Woman burnt by spilled coffee during Starbucks wins $100K

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. – A jury awarded a Jacksonville mom of 3 $100,000 in indemnification for browns she suffered when a crater of prohibited coffee spilled on her in a drive-thru of a Starbucks emporium in Jacksonville.

The 20-ounce “Venti” libation caused first- and second-degree browns to Joanne Mogavero’s midsection in a Jul 2014 incident.

Mogavero’s award for pain and suffering, earthy impairment, disfigurement, nuisance and detriment of ability for delight of life, her attorney Steve Earle said.

The lady also had $15,000 value of medical bills as a outcome of a spill.

“My customer didn’t wish magnetism from a jury, she wanted probity — and a jury gave it to her with a verdict,” Earle said. “It was good to see a only result.”

However, a code stands behind a store partners. 

“As we pronounced in trial, we mount behind the store partners (employees) in this box and say that they did zero wrong. We’re deliberation an appeal,” Starbucks pronounced to News 6 in a statement.
