Chromatic Coffee opens in downtown San Jose

Chromatic Coffee, partial of a Bay Area’s third call of indie roasters, has non-stop a long-awaited second coffeehouse in Silicon Valley.

After 5 years of pulling shots and creation pour-overs during a flagship Santa Clara location, a baristas have now stretched to 17 N. Second St., a ancestral 1928 building in downtown San Jose.

However, a Chromatic folks are no strangers to downtown, owners Wendy Warren says. Her compatriots in caffeine, hermit James Warren and co-worker Hiver Van Geenhoven, have been roasting beans for a few years during this plcae (though will be relocating to incomparable digs).

At Warren’s coffeehouses, female-run enterprises find clever footing. Teas come from Victoria Boyert’s Satori of Saratoga, and they are creatively brewed by a cup. Nut brittles are done by candy dilettante Hway-ling Hsu during her Sweetdragon Baking Co. in San Jose. And Manresa Bread, where Avery Ruzicka is conduct baker, reserve a pastries and bread.

Seasonal coffees such as Holy Mountain are large sellers, says Otessa Crandell, manager/retail director, and Keynote and Gamut are long-lived favorites. Coming this summer will be Day Trip, a rich, dim fry from Brazilian beans from a Minas Gerais region.

Crandell, who has been with Chromatic from a founding, and building manager Sherrise Gutierrez will conduct both locations. Overseeing a cooking side of a operation is food manager Nasarae Johnson, who has already stocked a fridge with Chromatic’s breakfast parfait, done in-house with Straus yogurt, Sweetdragon fruit compote and Manresa granola; vegan chia pudding; duck Caesars; and, in partnership with circuitously Zanotto’s markets, a preference of grab-and-go deli salads.

Hours, offerings are elaborating during this location. Check www.chromaticcoffee.com or a Facebook page for a latest.
