Stronger than espresso: Local business continues tradition of giving giveaway coffee to initial responders notwithstanding mercantile hardship

DENVER (KDVR) — Small businesses, including locally owned restaurants, have had to adjust in a times of COVID-19. Many are adjusting menu offerings or changing hours, doing all probable to keep a doors open. Despite a mercantile hardships, The Bardo Coffee House is doing all they can to continue their joining to a community. 

According to owners Chris Graves, coffee houses have a ability to be a center for a community.

“It’s a form of place that is a third space. It’s a place we go to…it’s not work, it’s not home. It is a place we feel gentle in…you feel like it is yours,” pronounced Graves. 

The customarily packaged coffee residence has felt dull given a stay-at-home sequence went into effect, though Graves knew he couldn’t tighten a doors.

“My customers, my regulars, a community…they need to know that they can stop by still and get that crater of coffee,” Graves said. “At slightest there is still some aspect of normalcy.” 

That normalcy means being a usually coffee residence on a retard open from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. Those hours are important, generally for a initial responders who have turn regulars. 

Since The Bardo Coffee House non-stop in 2010, it has been providing giveaway coffee and discounts to initial responders. It’s a tradition Graves wants to maintain.

“Here are these people that substantially do not get paid enough. And yet, they go into stuff, things, places where normal people pierce divided from. We pierce divided from these things in horror. They go true to it. Now, with so most doubt going on right now, they are still doing it. They are still doing their job, and we only like to be means to support that,” he said.
