“My biggest mistake was not investing in Starbucks,” O’Neal tells CNBC Make It. “I had a event before Magic Johnson though we told Howard Schultz that black people don’t splash coffee since we never seen anyone in my family splash coffee, ” he says, referring to Starbucks’ former CEO.

Although O’Neal regrets his Starbucks decision, he’s been successful in other areas of business. Not usually was he an early financier in Google and Apple, though he also owns 17 Auntie Anne’s, a Krispy Kreme authorization and several other use businesses.

To confirm what to deposit in, O’Neal draws impulse from Amazon owner and CEO Jeff Bezos. “I listened Jeff Bezos contend one time [that] he creates his investments formed on if it’s going to change people’s lives,” O’Neal told a Wall Street Journal in a new interview. “Once we started doing that strategy, we consider we substantially quadrupled what I’m worth.”
