Noe Cafe Transforms a Former Laundromat into a Sleek Coffee Shop

Rise and shine: There’s a new call coffee emporium in Noe Valley, one that has taken over an aged laundromat and totally remade it into a neat cafe. This new plan comes from barista Maricar Lagura and spit Christian Ritter, and promises eye-opening coffee, pastries from internal bakeries, and beans roasted on site.

Noe Cafe replaces Spin City, a lovable laundromat with large potion windows during a residential dilemma of Sanchez and Clipper. For over a decade, Lagura has served coffee out of a little cafeteria tangled into a front corner. It was, many say, a initial third-wave coffee choice for a neighborhood, starting as a Blue Bottle purveyor in 2010 (back when Blue Bottle was indeed small). Now a coffee operation will take over a whole space.

Lagura and Ritter pulled out Spin City’s aged industrial washers and dryers, jackhammered a floors, and put in a uninformed cloak of paint. There’s now a large core island, with walnut countertops and a radiant La Marzocco espresso appurtenance (“We had to retire Big Bertha after 4 years during Outside Lands,” Lagura says fondly of a predecessor, that she lugged out to flow for a show). In a front, a coffee window still opens onto a street, now with a indentation and bench. To a right, there are 4 low tables, any with a possess energy hollow for laptop jockeys. To a left, a recessed wall of dryers has been transposed with 3 low booths. In a back, a standup bar surrounds an tangible coffee roaster.

Spin City’s coffee window had a fan following in a neighborhood, with puppies and their owners congregating outside. Still, when a coffee operation announced skeleton to take over a whole space, some neighbors lifted initial concerns over their skeleton to fry beans on site. After some back-and-forth, Noe Cafe complied with a neighbors’ requests, and a emanate was resolved.

Of course, it’s not probable to hang in a space usually yet. Given tide health orders, Noe Cafe will open with takeout only, charity options for online grouping and curbside pickup. When outside dining kicks off on Jun 15, they’ll supplement 8 tables out front, so coffee drinkers can sip on a street, supposing they feel comfortable.

For those who take tea, there are offerings from Stonemill Matcha and Santa Cruz Chai. An interesting array of pastries facilities all internal bakeries: Kahnfections is entrance by with buttery croissants and cheddar-scallion biscuits. Dynamo is dropping off doughnuts, in favorite flavors like maple bacon and spiced chocolate. And Poppy Bagels, a relations visitor on a SF bagel scene, is rolling in a chewy carbs. Beyond breakfast, a cafeteria will also offer booze and drink on tap, and hopes to enhance a delicious options soon, with promises of sandwiches and cheese nibbles.

“I started creation coffee here when we was broke-ass unemployed,” says Lagura. “I always had cafeteria envy, and we always wanted to one day open a possess space …. Noe Valley has been so good to us.” Judging by a tide of regulars, who are already peering by a windows and knocking on a door, a coffee adore is mutual.
